Ways to Maintain a Tan During Winter

You’ve probably spent the whole summer working on getting the perfect tan. Now that winter is approaching, you might be wondering how you’ll maintain it.

However, don’t worry.  There are several ways to ensure that your tan lasts the whole winter. Here are some of them:

Moisturize Your Skin

You know all those times when your gorgeous tanned skin became patchy and started to peel from places? Not only is it annoying, but it’s also not a good look. To prevent this from happening, it’s important to moisturize your skin regularly.

It’s easy and convenient. Just apply some moisturizing lotion every time you step out of the shower. You can use a shea butter natural moisturizer as it would maintain a glowing tan. However, if your skin is starting to peel, an oil-based moisturizer is your best option as it would restore the skin’s oily qualities and stop the peeling.

Take Cool Showers

Although it’s not ideal in the winters, taking long, hot showers can dry your skin and make it more vulnerable to peeling. Instead, take showers with cool water and, if possible, use a moisturizing shower oil to prevent your skin from drying and peeling.

Use Self-Tanning Products

It doesn’t matter how careful you are about maintaining your tan; it will still fade during the winter. The good news is that you can easily enhance the glow and make it last a bit longer by using self-tanning lotions.

Once you notice tan lines becoming less prominent, it’s time to bring out the tanning lotion. If you’re not sure which self-tanning products to choose from, look for ones that contain moisturizers. Keep your skin hydrated by exfoliating it gently with the lotion. You can also apply bronzing lotions a couple of times a week to keep the natural, golden glow for longer.

Drink Water

It’s essential to keep your skin from dehydrating by drinking plenty of water. Not only does it keep the skin moisturized, which is essential to maintain the tan, but it also gives your skin a glowing look. It’s essential to drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water a day to keep the skin hydrated.

Eat Fruits and Vegetables Loaded with Carotene

Carotene is an antioxidant that’s found in several fruits and vegetables. It works with the chemicals in our bodies to add warmth to your skin tone and give it that glow. Carotene is found in spinach, kale, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, and carrots. Having some of these vegetables with every meal can boost your tan.
